Slate Roofing: A Timeless Choice

slate roofing
20x14 Weathering Green/Gray Slate
From color to texture to overall look, slate roofing makes a statement on any structure. We install slate roofs most often in historical restorations or modern “green” residences, but slate roofing looks at home virtually anywhere.

Why Choose CRS to Install Your Slate Roof?
Installing slate roofing requires specific knowledge and technique. CRS has mastered the craft over the past decade and is among a select group of contractors nationwide that are artisans skilled in slate roofing installation.
  • We remove the old slate roofing carefully to preserve as many tiles as possible. This eco-friendly process reduces waste by enabling reuse.
  • We do your job correctly and cost-effectively. Proper installation of slate requires a minimum of 2 inches of head-lap—the portion of the slate that is overlapped by two layers of slate. The standard is 3 inches. The size of the slate used in a project affects the amount used per square foot, as well as the size of the head-lap. We’ll help you choose the optimal size, potentially saving you thousands of dollars in material and labor costs.
  • We use the right fasteners. Slate roofs are designed to last for almost a century, so the fasteners that hold them together must be long-lasting as well. We install slate roofs with copper nails in lengths appropriate for the thickness of the slate.
  • Our installation technique secures your 100-year manufacturer’s warranty on new slate tiles. Improper installation voids that warranty.
  • We offer a 10-year labor warranty for our slate roofing projects.

Slate roofing is an investment. Protect it by hiring the right contractor.

The Benefits of Slate Roofing

Slate roofing offers a variety of benefits. This natural roofing material is:
  • Durable. When installed and maintained correctly, slate roofs should last at least a century.
  • Fire resistant. Slate does not need to be treated to provide this added protection.
  • Weather, rot, and insect resistant. Because it’s stone, this roofing material is less susceptible to damage from nature.
  • Environmentally friendly. Slate roofing isn’t manufactured in a factory, and its longevity and composition means it won’t end up in landfills.
  • Simply beautiful. Slate’s natural variations make it one of the most artistic and elegant looking roofing materials.

Rave Reviews from Our Clients

"These people made an impossible work to an extraordinary finish.  I can say that CRS people are very honest and finished the work in the given time. The brick work was done in a very professional manner and the roof looks real art of work. "
