1924 Tudor Slate Tile Roof Restoration
Before ![]() Deteriorated 12x7 Vermont slate roof |
The slate tile roof on this 1924 Tudor home was
badly deteriorating. Rather than replace the 12 x 7 Vermont Slate tiles with
the same product, we decided to install the new slate tile roof using 14 x 8
Vermont Slate. This larger tile allowed us to increase the exposure to 6
inches, resulting in significant savings for the customer in labor and
materials costs.
In addition, we changed the hips—where two roof panels meet at a point—from slated to mitered, saving the customer even more in materials costs. We also installed new copper valleys, copper flashings, custom copper ridge flashings, and Berger copper snowbirds. The end result was a beautiful, clean roof line that maintained the historical integrity of the home. |
