Each storybook roof is built from the finest cedar shakes. We use grade 1, Blue Label, certified 100% vertical grain and 100% edge grain shakes. Edge-grain shingles are the most stable over time and offer the greatest resistance. Premium-grade shakes and shingles must be 100% edge grain. In neutral climates, you can reasonably expect the following lifespans out of custom wood shingles: Cedar: 30 to 50 years or more.
